These speedboards are to be used in areas where you need some control over speed but do not want to have an unsightly speedsign sticking up in your scenery. Great for stub tracks and engine houses where locos hide out needing some speed control. Can also be used in series to control speeds of AI trains as needed on the main line or where ever.
If you want to change the texture to match your favorite track just make a new 32x32 bmp texture and call it "tiechip.bmp" and place it in the appropriate speedboard directory. You could make color codes for each if you wish. I didn't concern myself with this as I would just use the "grab" feature in surveyor to identify the various boards. When you are in driver mode the speed limit is shown for you as you know.
