Ash Hoist of this type were common in steam engine servicing facilities. The one I modeled was based upon the memery I have of the hoist that was located in the NYC Greensburg Indiana yard. The photo of an Ash Hoist that was located in the Midland Valley Railroad yard in Wichita, Kansas. It was nearly a clone of the NYC Ash Hoist.
